Uri Sharlin

Composer Accordionist and pianist ( he plays all kind of other staff too ) Uri started his training as a classical pianist at the age of 7. Turned on by jazz in his teens year, uri start playing jazz piano in and around Tel Aviv. He moved to New York at the end of the 20th century, where he studied with some of New York’s legendary masters (Jackie Byard , Ron Carter, Arthuro O’Farrell, Cliff Korman, Nancy Garniez, and others)While in New York, he found multiple musical directions to explore, mainly Cuban and Brazilian. His co-leadership with vocalist Gretta Panetieri in the Brazilian Jazz group “Sul/Norte” inspired his trip to Brazil, where he studied percussion and accordion. While performing with diverse ensembles in New York City and elsewhere, Uri founded his own group, the Cardamon Quartet, where he introduces his original compositions as well as arrangements for Israeli folk songs and classical Arabic pieces. After touring with the band to Israel in 2004, Uri and the Cardamon Quartet recorded their first album “Reflections of the Road” on Folk Dune Records. Since than. Uri recorded on many albums, mainly in the “ World music” genre ( among them with Roberto Rodriguez, Pharaho’s Daughter ). In the summer of 2005 Uri embarked on a European tour with the unique chamber pop group “Antony and the Johnsons”. In 2007 Uri Started two exciting projects, one with Italian Israeli master mandolinist Avi Avital, and another with two of New York coolest musicians: Kyle Sanna and Satoshi Takeishi…
